Fractal Console with Floating Candle Column

The thick glass console table's front edge is chiseled and carved with a fractal like pattern that was inspired by the textures from Glaciers when they break into the sea. The narrow stainless steel supports create a large clear area for centerpieces that appear to float in air.

The column was created from 3/8" thick glass and is etched and hand painted on the back with a translucently reflective green and silver lacquer. The glass shelves were clear glued on the face so they would appear to float on the surface of the glass.

The soft, flickering illumination from each candle's flame is heightened by sheets of silver leaf that were applied behind them on the back of the glass. The overlapping rectangular motif was carved and soft frosted on both sides of the glass. Alternating shades of moss green and silvery paint colors were applied into the carved out areas to accentuate the design. The candle flame illumination is also repeated in the light transmitting paint applied to the entire back of the glass column.
